In this article from The New York Times’ Carpetbagger blog Actor Josh Pence, who plays one of the twins in The Social Network, credits The Alexander Technique for helping him and his twin counterpart discover the intricacies and rehearse the physicality of playing twin brothers. Well done, Mr. Pence.

This is a picture of me working with my Grandma last month. She’s been using the Alexander Technique for a couple of years now to reduce the arthritis in her hands and neck. She is pretty spry at 88 and it’s always amazing to experience her balance and breath change when I get home to give her a lesson. In this lesson she told me, ” I just stop and tell myself to use a little less pressure before I move, and then I just move. It feels so good and I love that I don’t have to get it right.”

It’s 2011 and this article still rings very true today.

This quick read article from 2004 discusses movement training for the Actor. The author mentions the Alexander Technique as one of the skills an Actor can learn…”to demand more of themselves with greater range, safety, and endurance”.

Hark Ye Surgeons! Mind Thy Posture, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center

Pramrod Reddy, MD, a Cincinnati Children’s surgeon, explored whether the “Alexander Technique” could improve posture and technical performance of urological surgeons during laparoscopic surgery.
